As the Dig_IT project draws to a close, the Advisory Board (AB)—established during the initial stages to guide the project’s progress with expertise and industry insight—has made pivotal contributions throughout its four-and-a-half-year journey. Since its inception, the AB has convened annually, typically in May or June, providing essential feedback, suggestions, and validations that have shaped the project’s direction.
In these regular meetings, the AB reviewed key milestones, offering constructive feedback on ongoing activities and outcomes. Their insights on project advancements, strategic advice, and suggestions on innovation have proven instrumental in enhancing Dig_IT’s alignment with industry needs and future applications.
The final dissemination event, held on October 16th in Seville, marked a significant moment, as AB members were invited to engage with an international audience, presenting Dig_IT’s outcomes to a wider array of stakeholders. The event featured a round table led by two AB members—Mr. Holger Pietszch and Mr. Ignacio Martinez de Osaba—alongside external expert Mr. Enrico Borella. Their panel explored Dig_IT’s project achievements and technologies, discussing the industry’s challenges and potential future applications of these pioneering solutions.
This dialogue not only encapsulated the project’s journey but also encouraged stakeholders to envision future collaborations and the ongoing impact of Dig_IT’s technological advances on the mining sector.
About Dig_IT
Dig_IT project aims to develop a human-centered IIoT platform connecting the mining ecosystem of assets, environment, and humans to increase mining efficiency: saving costs using optimized scheduling, increasing uptime using predictive operation and maintenance, and identifying new revenue opportunities using advanced geological interpretation on exploration mining phase. To address industry needs of minimizing accidents, optimizing production processes, and reducing costs, intelligent systems will provide real-time insights for the enterprise at all operational levels.
